Crack The NExT 2024 with Medicoz Community

While, its been a while We have gone through the rigours of cracking AIPGMEE/AIIMS et al and there have been vast changes in the exam structure but the basic principles of preparation should still remain the same either it be NEET PG/ INI-CET or NEXT.

1) Sound concepts. You need to have sound concepts to crack MCQs. There are two ways of dealing with MCQs, either you know the answer-that’s straight hit or you have the knowledge to eliminate other options and then come to the answer. While straight hits are easy, being able to eliminate other options to come to an answer will help you crack the tougher questions and give you an advantage over other people. For that you need to have your concepts clear which can happen only by being familiar with your medical books right from first MBBS. If you think you are sufficiently thorough with your medical knowledge fromn books, thats good. In case if you think you aren’t, go back and look up the references from textbooks and build on your own concepts, just don’t read the answer given in the MCQ books. This especially helps for Ist and IInd MBBS subjects and for medicine.

2) Practice: As much as you can, do all subject wise MCQ books and read up challenging topics. At the same time do previous years questions in a timed mode, attempting each year paper just as you would attempt the actual exam. So if you have 540 questions in final exam, print a blank key sheet For these questions, and attempt those Papers. Initially you will get bad scores because you wouldn’t know lots of stuff, but don’t be discouraged by that. You will improve with time and once you gain enough knowledge.

3) Start early. While I started doing MCQs in internship year only, in retrospect it doesn’t hurt to do subject wise MCQs along with studying that subject. That way you can read textbooks at the same time. This is something I only realised in retrospect.

4) How necessary are coaching classes? We can’t really say how important they are, bcoz
IT depends on individual, some people have never been a big fan of being cooped up in a class and being told what to read and having a schedule dictated to me, but then each one to his/her own. Depends on your own confidence, knowledge level and comfort level with classes. But We would definitely recommend solving test papers from these classes and coupling that with some short-term or less intensive course that builds concepts and yet gives you time for yourself.

5) Stay focussed. Believe in yourself and your goals and believe that your hard work will pay off s0oner or later. I already had radiology in my mind when I began my preparations so pretty much knew what was the level of hard work expected of me to reach there. At the same time you also need to hope that luck favours you.

GOOD LUCK!
